Pours golden, in that dreaded West Coast IPA way. Let's hope not.
The nose is also worrying, as it's loaded with sweet malt. Again West Coast.
But what of the taste?
Okay, there are herbs and spices that is unusual for the style, but this is still a full on West Coast style IPA and that is certainly the type of IPA I do not like. And the spices make it worse, actually, leaving an unsavoury burning feel after just one sip.
By far the worst from CA's small batch series.

A collaboration with OCAD University, a triple IPA brewed with Zappa, Dorado and Ekuanot Cryo hops.
Pours a lightly hazed gold with a big, chunky head that leaves a few lace trails on the glass. The aroma is dense herbal, anise, citrus hops. A lot of complex hop flavors explode out of the glass. Bracing hop bitterness in the first sip accompanied by lemon drop candies and interesting herbal, floral hop flavors. Bready malts in abundance behind the hop onslaught. Full bodied with medium carbonation. High bitterness, hop fruitiness and resins and some alcohol spiciness in the long finish.
A fantastic Imperial IPA with a very interesting hop profile that moves away from the ubiquitous tropical bomb. Seek this out.
