Rosehips and weak mouthfeel. Not the style.

500 ml bottle from the brewery for about $6.45 CDN. Served well chilled into a chalice.
Appearance - Dark hazelnut brown colored brew with a small half finger fluffy light tan head on top. Very good staying power and a nice creamy but small curtain of lacing clings to the edges.
Smell - Lots of roasted malts, hits of smoke, wood and leather with a few floral accents backing things up.
Taste - Fairly roasty, wood and a bit of leather and ash with lots of roasted malts in behind, Fairly bitter overall but with some floral aspects and just a tiny bit of leafiness. Breadiness fills in all the gaps.
Mouthfeel - A little more prickly on the carbonation than expected and a very very dry finish. Body is moderate, lighter on it's feet than expected for an 8.5% ABV.
Overall - A pretty good baltic porter that stands out as a bit more bitter than the norm and has just a hints of sweet aromatics and flavor that is floral in nature. Worth a try for sure, but given the steeper than average cost, unlikely to buy more beyond the 2 I purchased.
