Experience the brilliance of IPA 29 Chroma Chromatic. This New England Double IPA (NEDIPA) is a vibrant, meticulously crafted brew aimed at elevating your hop experience to a whole new spectrum. At the heart of Chroma Chromatic are the unique HBC 1019 hops (still in the development phase but already showing their true colours). These proprietary hops infuse the brew with a kaleidoscope of tropical fruits, bright citrus, and delicate floral notes, creating a complex and captivating aroma profile.

As a perfect complement to the HBC 1019, we’ve blended generous amounts of Citra and Mosaic hops. The outcome? A mesmerizing symphony of flavours that paints your palate with a layered, hoppy experience. Each sip of Chroma Chromatic is a sensory journey, a dive into the vibrant hues of hop-driven bliss.

On tap at Whole Foods.

A - Opaque light medium yellow gold color with thin, creamy lacing.

S - Citrus and tropical fruit with some pineapple on the nose.

T - Palate is a little different with the addition of spearmint that I wasn't picking up on the nose. Pineapple, floral, tropical fruit, and citrus while ending a little more on the sweeter side.

M - Soft and chewy with some prickly carbonation.

O - Flavor profile is "unique" which might be polarizing for some.

Pours straw blond with a rocky, long lasting head. Lemon, lime, white pepper, green tea in the nose. The taste is hop forward with citrus and herbal notes and none of the usual NEIPA tropical notes. Full bodied with some noticeable booziness in the feel, Moderate bitterness in the long, lemony finish.

A unique hop profile. Worth a try if you like unusual IPAs.

473ml can served cold into a beer mug. Canned November 18, 2024.

Appearance - Very hazy and turbid looking brew with muddy yellow hues and some honey brown for coloration. Two fingers of foamy white head and a plethora of lacing left behind.

Smell - Guava, melon, spearmint. Pretty fruity but with that kiss of mint it's definitely different.

Taste - Guava melon and that spearmint again. The mint won't really go away either. Very strange. Some citrus muddled in as well and the booze is wonderfully disguised. Nothing offensive as the mint works with the flavors, but I get that in the aftertaste and nothing but it.

Mouthfeel - Smooth, low carbonation, juicy body and very crushable. Easy to drink.

Overall - The mint element puts this in strange territory for me, the balance of the beer is well made and eminently drinkable that it's obviously of high quality but the mint has be thinking whether I really want more. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it enough and one of the smoothest DIPA's I've had in a long while. This won't be a beer for everyone.

Look: Pale yellow, and cloudy. Pours with a two-finger bright white head that pulls back over 5 minutes leaving a dense bubble 2/3 finger head and a ton of lace sticking to the sides of my glass.

Smell: Guava, melon, passion fruit and cantaloupe. Plenty of floral notes as well.

Taste: Earthy, and tropical. Front end tastes of guava, green melons, and pears. Back end is slightly peppery, and tart. Hops and citrus notes are most prominent on the back end and after swallowed.

Feel: Rich and creamy. Very full bodied and quite soft on the front end. The back end is a little sharp and peppery. This beer left me with a noticeable heart burn in the end.

Overall a B-. Promising look and smell, but the earthy guava heavy taste and peppery finish left me disappointed.
