I visited Ashtown a couple weeks ago while on my way to Portland. I had never actually been into Longview before, only past it; it’s not a big town but they have a few breweries! Ashtown is quite big, with a cavernous interior and lots of big communal tables, as well as plenty of high-top and bar space. Quite industrial (the brewhouse is right there by the taproom), but also with wood accents that give a rustic but clean vibe. The guy behind the bar was friendly enough.
On my visit, there were 11 beers plus three house seltzers on tap. Styles included red ale, pilsner, milk stout, Mexican lager, scotch ale, rasberry wheat, espresso stout, Helles lager, and 3 IPAs, including two hazies and an imperial. From what I tasted, I’d say the quality of the beer was decent, if not outstanding. I might stop in again if I happen to be in Longview, but I wouldn’t make a special trip.

A: Sunday afternoon at opening we strolled in(baby, wifey and myself). Intially I cam ein solo because I did not know they were kid friendly. We grabbed a seat at a small center table with bar stools which is the common seating in the establishment unless you choose to sit at the bar where you have a bout a dozen chairs or so. NFL games on a few big screens hanging over the bar area. You can pretty much gaze into the brewery from any part of the taproom area. There is a nice, local feel here with a lot hommage to Mt St Helens to provide some decor. The staff was very energetic and enthusiastic so that helped with the energy and feel of the place. Parking was pretty easy as well.
Q: The quality ranged from good to average in my book. I had both the Wet Hop Pale w/ chinook and cascade plus a half pint of Oatmeal Stout on nitro.
S: Like I mentioned earlier, the staff was very informative, energetic and welcoming. We made some beer small talk and we never waited for beer. Service prompt and friendly.
S: On thsi visit they had three house beers available: Porter, Oatmeat Stout, Wet Hop Pale. They had just started brewing an OPA as I was there. One or two guest handles available
F: No food, but you could order in.
