Bottle dated 24615 into a snifter. Nose nice competing chocolate and oak. Taste is pretty meh, the oak/barrel is edgy even after cellaring. Chocolate is too subtle. Thin bodied. Won't buy again.

Bottling code of 24615. Fall seasonal release leads me to believe a bottling date of 09/03/15
Appearance - Pours cola brown with a tan, half finger width head. Poor retention, quickly breaking down to a near barren surface. Lacing consists of a few small spots here and there.
Smell - The aroma is moderate, but displays a nice blend of cacao nibs, oak, light roast, anise, vanilla and a hint of booze.
Taste - Follows the nose. Earthy cacao nibs and woody oak notes at the forefront. Milk chocolate a touch of coffee roast soon follows, along with distant notes of smoke, vanilla and anise. Very faint bourbon booze flavor comes through in the finish. The aftertaste rings with coffee bitterness and vague dark berry sourness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Slick on the tongue with a relatively dry and easy finish. A bit too light for the style.
Overall - Solid all-around beer. It displays a fantastic variety of flavors but, to put it simply, it lacks direction. There's nothing here that really jumps out and grabs you. I like this beer, a lot, but I can't find anything to love about it.

Way too much carbonation for a stout imo. Not as smooth as I would have expected. Kind of bitter

Pours a finger of tan head on a brown body.
The aroma is wood, roasted malt and chocolate.
The taste is coffee bitterness with roasted malt sweet to balance it out.
The texture is thicker with low carbonation.
It's a nice balanced stout.
