The appearance is hazy yet still translucent golden orange, almost to copper. Topped by a decent-sized white head, with fair retention. The ring atop leaves some streaky lacing.
The aroma is subtle, but there is some pink grapefruit, cantaloupe/honeydew melon, a touch of mango and papaya, perhaps pineapple as well--and a bit of earth. Muted at first, but subsequent sniffs reveal further pleasant depths.
Smacks of juicy hop flavor upfront. Blood orange and yellow grapefruit meet papaya, mango, and pineapple. Quite pleasant, actually. Zesty and pulpy bitterness intermingle quite fragrantly with tropical fruit juice. Pink grapefruit juice is most prominent, actually, maybe even blood orange. There is some bitterness on the back end, and tartness. A nice grapefruit rind bitterness. My only minor gripe is that it cuts away almost too quickly. I would like those juicy hop notes to carry on longer. There is a touch of biscuit malt near the end, but malt is no consequence here, which is desirable in a NEIPA. It finishes crisp and lightly dry. Dangerously drinkable for its abv.
The mouthfeel is smooth, well carbonated. Never thin but not too thick. Just a well-rounded IPA mouthfeel. Slightly sticky on the aftertaste, as it should be.
I gotta say, this is pretty remarkable offering from Hamburg. It's not mind-blowing, but it's an immensely citrusy and crushable hazy IPA that is good for its abv level. I like it.
