This is my go to shop whenever I am in the area or I plan on treating myself. They are always friendly and I talk their ear off at times. It is a smaller shop and a little dark but I believe that is for the betterment of the beer. Good deals are usually found along with fresh hops always coming in the door. They have something for every one if not exactly what you are after.

Great store and staff. Everyone was really helpful and they all know their beer. I've been to other places around watertown (i.e. Bear world) where the majority of the staff knows almost nothing about beer. Not the case here. The only small issue is their selection which is not huge, they do have a good range and they weren't exactly lacking but it's not like a mind blowing array of beers. They're always offering me samples when I go in and they are always willing to stop and talk about new beer. Love the place.

Greatest beer store in the North Country. Frequently rotating quality beers for growler fills and great selection of hard to get craft beers like Grimm and Other Half.

Dropped by this shop today. Was ery welcoming thr moment entered the store. Guy wrong was knowledgeable and helpful spending time not only making suggestions but also talking abut beer I'm general and travels around beer. He suggested a few brews and then offered tap samples, selling me the growler which is more bang for the buck, didn't just try to take money out of my pocket.

Selection is great with all varieties of beers avaliable. If you're looking for it they will deal it out for you as best as they can.

Big difference in this store as I see in others is that their beer is rotated frequently and date checked. I brought up a concern that I've always picked up and put dowb laguintas sucks several times in other stores due to being outdated. The staff responded that I wouldn't find and out of date bottle thete, and he was correct.

It's a great shop!

My wife's family lives in the area and I have been a few times. Previously stuck to Syracuse area shops as they were far superior to the offerings in Watertown. Bottle Caps is relatively new on the scene and has already established itself as the best store in Watertown and rivals (if not outright beats) the stores in Syracuse. Store is tiny but well organized with a large walk-in cooler. Good selection of bottles, including most of upstate NY distro. Some of the gems I found included Westbrook and Anchorage, at pretty decent prices.

They also have taps for filling growlers. They have some interesting stuff on tap but I have never had one filled while shopping. Prices seemed good and selection was above average.

Store is looking promising and I hope it will become a go-to shop while in the North Country.

I first dropped in towards the end of 2014, and have been a regular here ever since. The entry is a stairwell lined with empty beer bottles and cans, from past to present, giving a welcoming and intriguing experience.

The selection is the best in the area, both in sheer variety and in bottle dates. The staff here is very knowledgeable, and the owner loves and is passionate about everything beer; very impressive. You'll find beers from coast-to-coast, and the tap list is always rotating and stocked with styles galore - you'll even spot appearances from harder-to-find breweries in the state (Grimm!).

I recommend anyone passing through Watertown, NY, or residents who've yet to stop by here, to visit Bottlecaps. If you enjoy beer, you must come here.

sneaky good spot. well laid out (by style), offering growler fills not available in package (bonus) and anxious to educate and please. Guy on staff (Saturday) was very knowledgeable and helpful. If you're in the area, this is THE spot to buy your beer. No shelf turds, anything 'close' to out of code is discounted. More retailers should practice this.

Staff treats Canadians well and will hold items.
Nice growler selection, too.

Randomly stopped into this place while on a short trip to Watertown, NY. Shop is not too big but does well with the space, decent fridge selection, growler fill options and a small walk-in humidor. I hit mostly the bottle selection on the shelves and found it very favorable for the distribution available to me in the D.C. area.

The shop was not busy during the afternoon and the customer service was excellent. Clerk was very knowledgeable and assisted with my upstate NY/NE brewery education on what to try.

Prices were good to standard. They had solid selection of Alesmith beers which was a pleasant surprise. Stocked up on a wide selection of Maine Brewing beers along with some Middle Ages beers from Syracuse which all have been tasty.

Will definitely stop back in again if I am in Watertown again.

Gave this place a go after finding it on my way through Watertown back to Ottawa.

This place is in the basement of Arsenal Liquor and Wines, and it seems to be fairly well put together. Not an awful lot of atmosphere, the shop is small and there really wasn't much going on there when I was in.

The place is laid out by type of beer rather than by brewer, which sort of threw me off, as I am used to searching by brewer.

Selection is decent, but it could be better. The big plus for this place is that their stock is fresh and checked. There is competitor in the area where I have found beers well past their enjoy by dates still on the shelf. That was not a problem here.

Prices were reasonable, though I was a little irked that an advertised special had "just ended" conveniently though their flyer said UNTIL the end of the day.

All in all this place could become a regular stop on the way home after time in NY. It has a good selection, and I appreciate the time taken to rotate the stock. I hope they take the time to expand the brands and labels they have a bit more and put a bit of pressure on their cross town competitor.

UPDATE: Went back at end of September 2014...wow, these guys are really pulling things together. Amazing choices and great prices. A definite go to spot in Watertown and only a short jaunt across the border.
