From a Belgian die-hard, and quad lover this was disappointing. But frankly, pretty much all American attempts at strong Belgian beers fall flat in my opinion.

I know many people like the barrel aged beers, but I find that it takes away from what the beer is supposed to taste like. You cannot smell or taste anything other than bourbon with this beer.

On tap at Tennessee Brew Works. Poured an opaque, dark , dark brown color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace. It smelled of plum, raisin, fig, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Nice dried dark fruit taste with bourbon and vanilla.

Had a Limited Release 2018 bomber of Tenn. No. 12, in April 2020, poured into chalice.

Pours red-amber with clarity and 1/2-finger light-tan head, which dissipates to a persistent ring, but leaves very little lace. Aroma of fruit and strong malt initially, then chocolate, but very little bourbon. Begins with moderate carbonation, caramel malt, chocolate, then bourbon, which continues through dark fruits, and into a dry but not overpowering alcoholic finish.

A beautiful Quad, which even hangs onto its head for a bit despite the barrel-aging. A little lighter and fruitier than typical, and the George Dickel barreling is perfectly-calibrated and highly tasty.

I'm trying this at the brewery. An excellent Belgian Quad.....holy cow. It poured a hazy plum with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had toffee and dark fruit ganache. The taste was nicely balanced for a quad with dark fruit and toffee presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
