Appearance: orange in color with a 1/2" head.
Smell: some malt sweetness is all you could detect,
Taste: big malt profile, with some lemon zest, a bit of pine, and a decent bitterness. Alcohol is mildly noticeable.
Mouthfeel: medium in body. Lightly crisp from start to finish with some dryness arriving late.
Overall: a decent IPA that is more malt focused.

The Hill 88 had a slight hazy, burnt amber appearance with a light tan, two finger head. It had a sweet vanilla, orange liqueur and a bit of pine on the nose. You definitely pick up all three characters in the taste along with some spice on the tongue. Had a good amount of hops and a tiny bit of heat due to the 8.8% ABV. The carbonation leaves a slight tingle on the tongue as well. I'd drink this again!

A: Caramel amber with a soft orange hue giving a murkiness look to it. Otherwise a mostly clear condition. A dense khaki stack holds over top and measures in about two fingers wide. Seems like the lacing here just completely blankets the glass. Quite incredible retention and stick really.
S: The nose is very floral with spiced accents and a large dank herb presence. Seems to tow in a grip of caramel malt sweetness to it as well. I get a light tangerine presence and lots more florals in the finish.
T: Caramel malt sweetness up front. A little more than preferred here but still has a nice hop profile to it. Delivers on a healthy dose of herbal dankness and florals with some spice notes and a light citrus flare sprinkled in. The perceived bitterness hits on the lower side I would say and there is some warming alcohol spice in the finish. A little clunky to me at times but with some nice hop attributes going for it.
M: The body comes in a bit thicker and heavier in feel on account of the malt bounty here. Fairly creamy still with a smoothened bitterness. Some light drying in the finish with a warming alcohol presence. Not all that resinous really.
D: Not really knowing the back story on this one I would say the Hill 88 DIPA comes off a bit muddled and too heavy handed with the Crystal malts. Just another good but not great local offering. Nice to try out here but far from being anything worthy of a revisit.
