Served on nitro this beer sure does look the part deep dark black hues with a 1/2 inch of frothy head. Smells of mild hops, cocoa powder and just a hint of wood or licorice. Taste is on par not overly sweet or bitter hoppy just riding the middle with some cocoa and molasses thing going on. Body is obviously a but thin for the nitro but it was creamy.
Overall a very true to style RIS that I would get again!

This is in my top 10 of favorites.
Reminds me of Hibernation Ale, but more dark notes.
Had the bourbon aged version of this on Black Friday, and it was amazing!

Pours jet black with a tan film for a head.
Smells of roasted coffee and cocoa with a hint of oak.
Flavor is of cocoa, some nutty sweetness, oak and a hint of bourbon.
Full body with a tingly of carbonation on the roof of the mouth.
Very good stout with nice full flavor, worth trying. Drinks easy despite its strength.
