$ 4.22 (Including tax)/12 oz can ($ 0.352/oz) from House of 1000 Beers, Warrendale, PA. Reviewed 8/21/18.
Bottom of can marked “07.02.18”, stored in cooler in the store. Served (After inverting three times) at 42 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
Body – Pinkish-orange, hazy.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.5 cm, aggressive center pour), very slight pink tinge, low density froth, average retention, diminishing to an irregular three to four mm ring and a thin complete layer. Head retraction leaves behind about a dozen spindly islands. Second pour produces a much smaller head.
Lacing – Poor. As the level drops, the same spindly islands appear that formed from head retraction.
First pour – Very light pink, hazy.
Aroma – 4 – Fruity – banana, clove, bubble gum. Maybe hibiscus but I’ve never horned one so I don’t know.
Flavor – 3.75 – Begins slightly sweet and a bit fruity without the clearly defined flavors expected from the nose. No distinct yeast or malt flavors. Leaves a slightly sweet aftertaste. No alcohol, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3.75 – A pleasant, light-weight, drinking experience. More flavor and slightly more alcohol than the average session IPA, it is much less bitter and should appeal to the consumer of “lite” beers. Two and done.
