The classic lager beer helped build Wisconsin into the beer state that it is today. With reverence to our roots, we've created this forward-thinking German-inspired brew that drinks clean, crisp, and delicious.

On tap at the Cardinals Crest Loft with the Green Bay tasting crew. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention and soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, pear, citrus zest, cracker, corn, white bread dough, wood, peppercorn, pine, herbal, floral, grass, light yeast earth. Light-medium pine herbal spicy bitter finish. Medium-plus carb and light-medium body. Crisp clean refreshing finish. Balanced bready grainy malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Light resins and lingering hop drying. No cloying or hop astringency. Very clean lager flavors. Superb for the American style.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours golden yellow orange with a nice white head. Smells of sweet cereal grain, very slight fruit. Tastes of sweet grain and some bright fruit. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

On tap at Legacy Hotel in Green Bay. A tasty light Lager with a mild bready aroma and soft attenuation. Pours 95% clear medium gold color. Lightly sweet and mildly grainy tasting. A light bready note and a hint of yeast. Served in a strange. Lightly brisk feel. A totally quaffable beer. It is very good in its style.

a very easy drinking light lager, but not a great beer overall, the lightness of it all in part allows some of the cheapness to show though, and this tastes as much macro as it does crafty, a little exposed to me, although there are elements that i like to this. its super blonde, clear, and light looking, see through all the way, but also pretty bubbly and holds some head, so it looks alright in the glass no doubt. it doesnt smell like much, faint metallics, a little corny type sweetness, white printer paper, a little pils type malt with a slight european thing, some lager yeast too but the ferment is pretty tight. the flavor has a little more to it, slight sweatiness, minerals, raw dough, and subtle floral hops at the end but way back. there is an odd sweetness to this, especially for a beer this light, an adjuncty thing that comes out, even though im not sure what all is in this or how its made. i do taste some lager yeast too which i dig, and the overall lightness of it all is appealing, but the flavor just isnt great. i want this kind of thing to be super clean, and i didnt find this to be that way, and despite drinkability and high carbonation and some nice features, its a lackluster product and easily my least favorite ive had from badger state so far, although i do get why people dig it, a craft option to bring macro drinkers over, and im always in support of that mission.

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, light golden color with a moderate white head. SRM of 7. (3.75)

Aroma: Moderate aromas of pale malts, grains, some bread malts with a clean yeast.

Flavor: Moderate flavors of pale malts, lightly grassy. Then clean bread yeast off the finish. Light biscuit malt sweetness as it warms.

Feel; Medium-bodied, stronger carbonation. Crisp and clean.

Compared to 1840 Beer For People Who Don't Drink Good 5/2023: Pours similar. Milder aromas. More pale adjunct flavors. Cleaner and crisper.

Overall: A pretty average light AAL. Not sure what part about this was "German-inspired" according the to the beer description. Drinks about as typical as it gets for a light AAL. Light biscuit malt sweetness as it warms. Not any German qualities I detect. (Rating: 3.62)

I bit hoppy but overall a good Lager. Enjoyed the 8 pack of Tall boys and will visit the brewery when in Green Bay.

I tried a pint of this beer off the tapper at The Crow in downtown LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It poured a clear golden with thin white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had subtle grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and wheat presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.
