Bottled 4/13/15; drank 5/3/15 @ the Yarchives.
Black/brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a tan head; almost no lace.
Fresh earth & bakers chocolate notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Fresh earth & bakers chocolate flavors up front; faint baking soda & dry booze heat on the finish. Banana notes emerged as this warmed.
A sturdy stout with an interesting finish. I'd have another.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new twelve ounce bottle from Only Child Brewing, this one an oatmeal stout. 7.40% abv, IBU: 37, SRM: 40. Appealing bottle art.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a murky jet black with about one finger of creamy chocolate head. Minor scattered spotty lacing. Looks good for what it is, I suppose.
S - A bit of a chalky, dry aroma. Simplistic, roasty, and charred. The chocolate flaked oats are very apparent on the nose. Roasty and charred above all else.
T - The taste follows the nose: very roasty, bitter, and charred. Lots of bitter baking chocolate, with subtle notes of lactose / vanilla / cream on the end. Much dryer than I was expecting, but it grows on me the more I drink it. Seems like there was a lot of roasted barley used on this one.
M - The feel is bitter, roasty, charred, and dry. Not smooth or velvety like one would typically expect of an oatmeal stout. Medium-bodied with good carbonation. Easy-drinking stuff for the mild 7.40% abv.
Overall, a simple but nice drinking oatmeal stout from Only Child. Probably not something I would go for often, but I would recommend it to my fellow local beer enthusiasts.
