Canned 4/4/16; drank 4/11/16 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big eggnog head; thick, frothy lace.
Orange citrus & peanut butter notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Orange citrus & peanut butter flavors; no booze heat.
Much maltier & less citrus-y than the last can I had; a major letdown. Drinkable, but that's it.

Poured from their signature black an white cans.
L: A foggy golden color, nice off white head that fades away but leaves a soapy appearance, very nice lacing.
T: Tropical fruit, mango, papaya and some pineapple.
F: Smooth and creamy, carbonation is right on. Very easy drinking.
O: Small Lake County brewery. This is probably beer #5 or #6 from Only Child, all have been well made. Another taproom visit is coming up soon. Highly recommended.

Appearance - pours two fingers of thick creamy eggshell foam, body is a glowing translucent orange amber, defined laces follow each quaff, retains a sturdy cap throughout.
Smell - just a huge nose of tropical and citrus, especially pineapple, papaya, red grapefruit and blood orange. Hints of pine and sweet basil, phenomenal!
Taste - exactly like the nose - tropical and citrus flavors explode across the palate and fill the mouth - pineapple and papaya meats dominate, bright sharp esters of citrus peels, wonderful fruit piths and drying peach pits line the back of the tongue, starts out juicy and mouth coating then dry and slight bitter pucker and drying basil at the finish, perfect balance and transition.
Mouthfeel - perfect medium weight for a dipa but not overly sweet or syrupy in the least, carb is smooth and barely provides enough scrub, really letting the tropical and citrus flavors assert and dominate, and still manages to finish dry - perfection.
Overall - I'm just going to say it - this is the best dipa I've ever had, and I just tried my first Pliny recently. Only Child is a fantastic local brewery, and everything I've had from them is top shelf. If you're ever in Gurnee, their beers are a must try - and you MUST try this one, I think you will agree with me.
