Appearance: pours with a head of about two and a half fingers which dissipated quickly. Random lacing left behind on edges of the glass. Straw yellow color with a hazy body. Active carbonation in the glass is on the lower end.
Smell: bright fruit front with accents of pears, mangos, kiwi, and lime. Slightly sweet malt profile with accents of caramel. Continuing fruit build on the body adding some more substantial orange/tangerine characteristics.
Taste: Airy semi-sweet caramel greets the drinker. Light, summer appropriate fruits warm up after the front with accents of pears, lime, saturated citrus, and orange peel. That lime and lemon sticks around for the back end with just a touch of medicinal funk which really doesn't take anything away from the beer. Sort of a berliner weiss type finish.
Mouthfeel: Light and easy going with enough of a hop pop to remind you this is an IPA. Carbonation is fitting.
Overall: Pleasantly surprised by this one. Aptly named a summer IPA, this has an easy crushability which is always welcome during this warm Midwest summer days. Really enjoyed the hop profile on this one, pleasant bright fruits shine throughout.
