22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Only Child has really been churning out the beers lately; this one their new DIPA creation. Expectations are great since I've enjoyed pretty much everything I've had from these guys so far.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - It pours a deep ruby red body with some fine sediment in the glass. About two fingers of creamy doughy khaki head with decent staying power for the high abv. Leaves fine spindly lacing on the glass.
S - Very fresh, fruity, and tropical on the aroma. Huge waves of orange, grapefruit, and pine, followed by sweetened brown sugar & caramel malts. Minimal earthy yeast noticeable on the end.
T - Taste follows the nose - juicy & fruity hops paired well with a sweetened brown sugary / caramel malt backbone. It's a bit imbalanced; a bit sweet, borderline barleywine status, but not quite. The fresh fruity hops keep the malt in check. Grapefruit, pine, melon. There is quite a lot going on here.
M - The feel is smooth, creamy, sticky, & sweet. Medium-bodied with very nice carbonation. Extremely easy drinking for the high 12.10% abv, without so much as a trace of alcohol warmth.
Overall, an excellent DIPA, borderline barleywine, from Only Child Brewing. Definitely the biggest beer I've had from these guys as of yet, but it was still highly drinkable, delicious, and flavor packed. Another excellent beer in a swelling line-up of excellent beers from Only Child Brewing Company.
