22 oz. bottle, with no batch number or bottled on date present. A new one to me from Only Child, snagged the last bottle of this stuff from the local beer store. An 'American Porter Brewed With Spices".
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a thick dark chocolate; opaque in the glass with about a finger of dark mocha head that falls to a bubbly ring. Some scattered sticky spotty lacing. Standard appearance for the style.
S - The spice rack notes hit first - leafy eucalyptus / mint, florals, cold coffee, and mild chocolate malt content. The mint and the chocolate meld nicely together. Simple, but hits it's mark.
T - The taste follows the nose - the chocolate malt content is mostly overshadowed by mild spicing and the eucalyptus / mint leaf. Again, a simple approach to the style, but all of the ingredients meld nicely together, though I wish the chocolate was perhaps more focused.
M - The feel is to style - slightly watery, light-bodied, easy-drinking, with very mild spice & dry chocolate leftover.
Overall, not my favorite effort from these guys, but it was a nice take on the style, and definitely makes for a nice winter sipper. Looking forward to more.
