22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date or batch information present. Another brand new one from Only Child, this one an imperial milk stout brewed with lactose and cherries.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a very dark inky, almost sludgey brown-black body. Opaque in the glass, with less than a finger of dark mocha head that fades to a ring quickly. Lots of thin sticky lacing slowly cascades down the glass. Looks good for what it is.
S - The aroma is unique, and the cherries come through very nice and authentic. Slightly sour and tart to begin with, but the cherries eventually meld in with the big alcohol content to become medicinal. Not really getting much chocolate or roast on the nose; the cherries pretty much dominate.
T - The taste follows the nose, with the creamy milk chocolate / powdery cocoa playing a much bigger role here. Juicy fruity cherries blend in nicely. A distinct roasty coffee bean presence is defined on the end.
M - The feel is very smooth & creamy. A lower full body with nice carb.
Overall, a nice sipper from Only Child, albeit I wouldn't put it up there with the likes of Bell's Cherry Stout. Still, an excellent stout from an excellent brewery. I can't wait to see what's next.
