Bottled 3/23/15; drank 4/18/15 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque dark orange appearance.
Nice khaki head; a curtain of tree-rung lace.
Caramel, toffee & banana nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Toffee & caramel flavors up front; a bitter finish. Booze heat emerged as this warmed.
Messy & not very satisfying...I'd pick Playtime Never Ends over this every time!

Look - pours a good finger of light eggshell foam, color is a translucent medium amber, leaves rich lace rings after each sip
Smell - great nose of earthiness, light brown sugar, leather and ruby red grapefruit.
Taste - very much like the nose, a perfect balance of earthy hops, very light grapefruit, brown sugar and touch of leather strap. Perfect blend of sweetness, earthiness and slightly dry finish.
Mouthfeel - nearly medium weight, carb is medium with just enough edges to usher in the slightly dry finish. Flavors are nicely bold and fill the mouth.
Overall - an excellent representative of the style, just a fantastic brew. Almost drinks and tastes like a Christmas ale, highly recommend.

12oz bottle, packed on 3/23/15 - 3 days old? Sweet!
A - rigorous pour reveals a deep amber body with a thinner ivory head that fades quickly
S - pleasant fresh hop nose with some tropical notes of pineapple, mango, and mandarin; a bit of pine in there also. Sweet caramel malt rounds out the aroma
T - sweet caramel malt, bready malt, pineapple, mango, orange rind, faint onion, earthy, and herbal; flavors don't seem to jive too well
M - fuller side of medium for body, resinous and dry with lingering piny bitterness
O - ok IPA. I wouldn't buy this again. A bit of a disappointment seeing as it's my first stab at trying a beer from Only Child.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present, but this was just released so I am aware of it's freshness. The first 12 oz bottle & the first 4 pack release from Only Child Brewing Co., acquired at the local beer store.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a somewhat dark blood orange body with medium clarity, and some mild hop / yeast particulate visible. About a finger of bubbly off-white head that falls to a bubbly ring. Leaves behind lots of scattered spotty lacing. Looks good for what it is, if perhaps a touch on the darker side due to the malts used.
S - On the nose, all I'm getting is lots and lots of peppery earthy rye. Mild floral / tropical fruit hop presence, but mostly all grainy rye malt aromas. Mild floral alcohol.
T - The taste follows the nose - the hop content lends the beer a very earthy, dirty, herbal flavor. Lightly floral, with a touch of pine oil resins. I can't say that I'm a fan of the malt profile used here, though. Much more earthy, dirty, and malty than I was expecting.
M - The feel is smooth, crisp, clean, and lightly piney / bitter / resinous on the finish. Moderate bitterness, and medium-bodied with good carb.
Overall, a well-made beer, but I was expecting juicier fruitier hops. Call me ignorant, but this thing should have been labeled as a Rye IPA, because that's what it tastes like. This one was a miss for me, but I look forward to more 4 packs from Only Child!
