12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new twelve ounce bottle from Only Child Brewing Co., acquired a single bottle from the local beer store. Pilsner malt and Red Wheat used, and hopped with Pacific Jade hops.
Poured into a clear balloon snifter.
A - It pours a pale cloudy golden body, with hardly any conjuration of head at all, merely a ring of white bubbles. Minor scattered spotty lacing. Appears aptly carbonated. Looks okay.
S - A pleasant aroma, for what it is. Grainy & wheaty, with some grassy / herbal / citric / lemon qualities to it. Crisp bready yeast presence. Floral. Smells more like what I imagine a Belgian style pale ale or a Belgian style IPA would be like.
T - Again, I called it a witbier, but it tastes more along the lines of a Belgian pale ale. Fruity, floral, & hoppy. Creamy & yeasty, with notes of apple skin, oranges, and subtle Belgian yeast spice. Orange peel / florals really become pronounced as the beer drinks on.
M - The feel is smooth, crisp, & creamy. Medium-light bodied and easy-drinking. Okay carbonation, but it could probably stand to be amped up just a tad.
Overall, an interesting take on the style, which I assume is supposed to be a Witbier. Not normally one of my favorites, but this one was okay. Definitely glad to see these in 12 oz. bottles, and i look forward to more from Only Child.
