Pours a dark chestnut color with a meager cap of khaki foam that sputters away in a flash. Aroma smells of rich roasted coffee, roasted malt, and a hint of dark chocolate.
The taste features a bold burst of coffee that's closer to black than not, although there is a nice hazelnut/peanut brittle flavor on the back end. Mellow, earthy hops meld nicely with the roasted malt in more of a supporting role. Modest but perky carbonation and light body make for a thin mouthfeel that's a good deal less substantive than I look for in a stout (even a session stout such as this).
Overall, this is a decent stout that delivers on its coffee promise without bringing a whole lot else to the table. Not bad, but doesn't exactly thrill me either.

Poured very black and a little foam. The taste, to me, was very strong coffee but, it wasn't too heavy considering the strength of the coffee taste. It was good but, I had just had a Mud Monster before this beer so, my taste buds had to do a little adjusting.
