I was hoping to like this but, the rye flavor stood out too much for me.

Serving: On tap in a tulip
Served: 30 December 2015
Apperance: Pours a deep, thick brown-black color with a faint tan head that collapses quickly under the strength of the alcohol.
Smell: Sweeter nose than I was expecting- lots of roasty sweetness almost like a latte or a mocha or something along those lines. Milk chocolate notes. A pinch of pumpernickel bread.
Taste: This beer is big on flavor (it's an imperial stout after all) but everything blends together nicely. There are notes of baker's cocoa, French roast coffee, cacao nibs, toffee, and a vanilla sweetness. I didn't get much assertion by ways of the rye malt here, but I did enjoy the sweet pumpernickel bread flavors that creeped through otherwise.
Mouthfeel: Big body with low carbonation. A sipper for sure.
Overall: Probably the best beer I had from Only Child and one I would definitely go for if you like the style.
