A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2014, so it's a little out of date. Acquired a while back from a B&M store. The label calls it 'well-hopped and strong in flavour'.
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A bright golden hue with light carbonation and some faint floating sediment. Yields a smallish head of white foam that lasts for a moment or so before settling as a thin surface layer.
S: Aroma of light, grainy malt with mild hints of grass/hay, fruity ale yeast and subtle stewed leaves. Unexciting.
T: Tastes of mild grainy malt with a vaguely fruity character and a dry finish. Notes of grain, ale yeast, grass/hay, stewed leaves and husks. Perhaps a touch of caramel. Well-attenuated, followed by a delicate leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and decent body. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity yeast esters, stewed leaves and faint grain.
O: Meh - not up to much. Looks OKish, while the aroma and flavour are a dull blend of ale yeast and weak, grassy hops. Body is alright. A decent ale in a technical sense but hardly an IPA worthy of the name. This brewery's definition of well-hopped needs revising. Drinkable but boring - no need to seek it out.
