I get this is a session stout, but that doesn't excuse what this thing is.
First let me quote from Jagged Mountain's home page their description:
"Truly a session ale, this beer clocks in at an easy drinking 3.8% ABV. Despite the low alcohol, this beer is very full of flavor and character. Rich chocolate, toast and caramel notes fill the aroma and flavor, and light fruity characters come through in the background. The finish lingers with caramel, toast and chocolaty flavors. The light hops balance the complex malty characters making this beer best enjoyed around the campfire with friends!"
Here's my break down of their description:
Rich chocolate = No
Toast and caramel notes = No
Light fruity characters= Kinda, I got more floral than fruity
Finish lingers with caramel, toast and chocolaty flavors= Not even close
Being thin-bodied isn't a surprise considering the ABV. But there was little to no flavor except for a strong floral hop presence at the end. I found the whole thing to be a mess. Maybe the description was written by a "supertaster" that can delve *deeply* into it and get these flavors. For this regular stout-loving guy, this beer is more of a light American brown, if it's lucky, and not enjoyable in the least.

Big nose and flavor for a session porter. Would definitely try again.
