i believe this was done with or for klines in arvada, and with new holland whiskey barrels, but perhaps that is another coffee version of this? it was fun to get to taste a number of these in close proximity to one another, and while i think a beer this big can handle quite a lot more coffee than it has, i like the bitterness the coffee adds, it cuts down on the sweetness a bit, but more would be better, as this is still absurdly sugary, enough so that the residual sweetness limits drinkability more than the booze for me, and this one is strong! molasses and grain sugars everywhere from start to finish, a light smoke and deep roast from the coffee, calls up a bit of the darker grain than i got from some of the other versions, but the barrel treatment seems to make this sweet too, vanilla and cola character in there as well. this doesnt need to be so strong, itd be a better beer with some of this booze and sugar cut out, but its cool they are doing a beer this ambitious, and that there are a number of versions of it happening all at once. more coffee is needed here though i think...
