On tap at a local craft bar -
L- Poured into a chilled pint glass - very dark brown, almost black with an inch of tan head that dissipated relatively quickly. No lacing (this is probably due to the chilled glass?)
S- Smells like a great english porter, caramel, toffee, roasted malts.
T- Great porter base but then the salt hits me quickly and I actually think it masks a great porter. While the salt isn't as strong as a gose it is really odd for the style and I am not sure what to do with it (obviously it is subjective). It delivers as advertised but I personally feel like the salt is not balanced by a caramel sweetness, especially after the smell. I feel like if it was a little more balanced it wouldn't get lost in the saltiness.
F- Good carbonation, but I am left with mostly a tingle of salt on the tongue.
O- Not sure, I personally wouldn't seek it out but I think it is well executed, just not my thing and could benefit from toning down the salt or uping the caramel sweetness.

I have wanted to taste this beer since these guys opened up way back, but it's always out when I go there. Finally scored it, and was a little let town, even though it's good. It's just not very caramely at all, I get it in the malt, but it's not gooey and sweet as expected, just subtle, almost too subtle. The base porter is nice for sure, English in yeast complexion and nice and frothy in feel, with e heavy handed chocolate malt profile. I do get the salt though, it's pretty bold in the finish, drying it out and then making the palate water, it's quite salty. The salt is a little weird though without the caramel, it just doesn't seem to fit in the earthy base beer, it's an odd sensation. For once in my life I find myself wishing for more sweetness in a beer, it would suit the salt here. As it stands, it's cool because it's subtle, but it's not as unique as the name suggests it should be. Former future stays hit or miss for me...

Salted caramel in a porter, I've never had that combo before. Here's to new beer!
Pours fantastic. Deep ruby/black with a nice mocha head. Foam settles down to a collar and resists resurrection. Lacing thins out. I'm guessing salt has something to do with it.
Aroma has a hint of sweet caramel. Mostly, though, it's roasted caramel, malt and some hints of coffee. Perhaps a whiff of dark chocolate.
Flavors blend quite nicely. The salt is noticeable, but not like a Gose. I get a slight hazelnut upfront followed by the roasted characteristics. Caramel is in the back ground, smooth and sweet. A dab of ice cream might just do wonders here. Ends a bit thin and fuesel but hardly noticeable
