Pours more dark amber than deep red. Good clarity, minimal head retention. Fruity brettanomyces character, slight oak, cherries, grape skins on the nose. Taste is similar to the nose with medium lactic acidity, no noticeable acetic acid, a slight tannic bite from the barrels, some funky brett character. Very nice.
One of the better sour reds I have had. Love the balances acidity and fruity cherry like brett.

the latest and i think second total bottle from these guys is a good one, maybe my favorite of their brews so far. a sour red in oak wine barrels, and its distinct from the crowd. its got a nice amber color, and quite a bit of clarity for the style. there isnt much head though, and the carbonation is lighter than average i would say. there is a flanders red wild side to the yeast in this, especially in the smell, a touch of cider vinegar in the sour complexion, and theres the wood. more fruit in the taste than the nose, cherry and even cranberry as the pucker ramps up. the grain is cool, medium bodied, fresh, and as much caramel forward as classically red, which is a nice feature. the mouthfeel is what makes it unique though, with a finish thats neither sweet nor dry, but sort of plays on the best of both worlds. the texture, the beer itself, the body and whatever residuals are there hang around on the palate, i feel a beer, but the taste is gone just a moment after the swallow, way before the feel stops feeling. this is a new palate sensation for me, aided perhaps by lackluster carbonation, but it works in this case. this will likely cellar very well, but the sourness and moutfeel make it ready to go right now. a step above most other beers ive had from these guys.

Split a 12 oz bottle 5 ways yesterday at the tap room. This is the second bottled beer by former future, and after trying it I'm glad I got to take some home. First off on the nose, you get a massive quaff of watermelon rind and lactic acidity and you're expecting that upon first sip...however that is not the case. This beer is extremely balanced and fully assaults your palate with notes of red wine tannins, a smidge of oak, vanilla, fresh fruit, and the lactic acidity plays a nice supporting role. Not much bretty funk at all, definitely a "clean sour." It's not hurt your jaw acidic but it's definitely there. Carbonation is spritzy and refreshing and the color is just like the name: ruby red. So impressed by this beer. Only 1000 made so go snag a few bottles while they last.
