Interesting beer, wasn't sure the proper label. Since this is a brewery that only offers lagered beers I chose a lager style for its style. SP's identifies this a "lagered saison with vanilla and ginger."
Pours golden a with a touch of caramel hue throughout an a huge frothy cream colored head. Aroma smells exactly as one might expect a lagered saison; saison yeast is definitely there on top providing some fruity esters and spicininess, lager yeast also residing there giving it some strawiness, and through it all is the ginger as advertised. Vanilla comes in once it begins to warm up. Aroma is solid but there is room for it to come together a little tighter, IMO. Flavor has the ginger taking more of a role in the forefront, some vanilla which adds some richness and cuts the spiciness of the ginger nicely, and the fruity (lemon) & spicy esters (a touch peppery) from the saison yeast reside in cahoots with the grainy lager yeast. Really quite nice. A medium mouthfeel that offers some creaminess but not quite enough activity. A little heavier than I would prefer too, personally. Overall, quite a nice intro to this new Denver brewery. Was definitely disappointed when I finished my bomber and had no more left to drink. Would drink this again for sure and interested in checking some of their other stuff out as well.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
