Pours a half finger of tan head on a black body.
The aroma is milk, coffee, chocolate and a touch of molasses.
The taste is a complex blend of roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, licorice, milk and coffee bitterness. Wonderful.
The texture is super smooth.
This is an outstanding brew.

An excellent example of the breed. Highly flavored RIS, good coffee notes, more chocolate smell than taste.

On tap at Device Brewing:

Pours pitch black with a mocha head and exhibits excellent lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast, coffee, and some vanilla. Huge dark and milk chocolate flavors at the front of the palate give way to a perfect burnt ashy-ness and coffee bitterness. Truly a delightful RIS. They have this beer perfectly dialed in. The ashy flavor on the back end of the palate was executed extremely well. The beer remains balanced between chocolate, coffee, and burnt characteristics. After many many RIS this may actually be my favorite. Better than Narwhal, Founders, Old Rasp, Expedition, and Ten Fidy to name a few. Yea, I know, high praise...but I loved this beer. Well done Device.

Dark black with beautiful cream colored head.

Medium light, malty aroma.

Dark roasted malt taste, like the crust on a burnt marshmallow. High effervescence. Some alcohol Tasha. Dark fruit fruit, raisin flavors. Low hop characteristics.

Malty sweetness, dark fruit linger on the tongue. Carbonated dryness and alcohol flavors remain.
