Saer Brau Special Blond has a thick, white head and a clear, gold appearance, with heavy lacing. The aroma is of white bread crust and it has a similar flavor. Saer Brau Special Blonde has a medium body and a dry finish.

Look: Clear gold body beneath a short head of bright white foam that drops readily but leaves some nice lacing behind.
Smell: Clean with just some sweetish adjunct malt (glucose syrup; hop extract).
Taste: Quite surprisingly at just 7% the alcohol has a clear presence here. The bitterness is minor, however, and it helps to balance the candyish malt. There’s almost a vanilla-like note to it, some apple, and a bit of spiciness.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp then smooth.
Overall: As a sweetish strong Euro lager it works but I can’t help but imagine that it’d be better as a Belgian-style ale. It doesn’t have enough clear barley flavor, nor hops, and there’s a lot going on with the fermentation. Still, I think I’ve enjoyed it just as much or more than the other Saer Brau beers I’ve had.
