50 cl can coded “03-2025 GS4x 40740L” and sampled on 29/11/23

Notes via stream of consciousness: It’s poured a clear, yellow-gold body beneath a finger’s width of bright white foam. Is this an adjunct lager? Yes, it uses glucose syrup and hop extract. There’s something unusual in the aroma that I can’t place. I don’t believe I’ve ever come across it in a beer before and it’s kind of like wet paper and vanilla. As a saving grace it’s also bready and there’s a hint of floral character to it but it still remains average at best. The same paper and vanilla thing appears in the taste and it’s quite unusual. It’s sweetish but not overly sweet, and a moderate bitterness is enough to keep it mainly dry in the finish although a little bit of a rough bitterness comes forth as it lingers. There are some subtle herbal hop notes to it which is pleasant, and I will say that the head retention is good and the lacing is even better. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and gently crisp. I can’t give this much credit as I feel there’s some oxidation going on even though it’s still got sixteen months to go before expiration. As a cheap beer to drink cold on a hot day I wouldn’t turn it down.
