Bind-tasted excl: the front lable,
L- Deep golden pours clear with a 1Cm just off-white foam lid.
S- Mild, just some malts for me.
T- Less impactful than anticipated. It's mild in taste and has a bit of a estery/spicy twist in it. It has a richness to it and the hops seem mild.
F- It's quite rich though, and I better not linger as it's currently chilled. When this warms a touch it risks crossing a line towards a sweet facet. CO2 in the mouth is good.
O- It's a bit sweet for me, and I mean sugary vs simply rich. It a large bottle but I'll battle on. Not one I'd buy again though.
Bought from a Carrefour mega-store in Belley, France. 750ml bottle, corked+wired. BB: 22/08/2024.

De Carrefour. En caliz Grimbergen. En cena de nochebuena. Bastante buena para el precio que tiene. Una belgian blonde suave, de trago fácil y manteniendo el perfil característico del estilo adecuadamente, sin resultar aguada

Carrefour “Walbergem” (under license from L’Abbaye Saint-Paul De Wisques
75 cl brown glass bottle, corked and caged, and coded “Da consumarsi preferibilimente entro Il: 15.01.25 L29116. Sampled on 01.12.23
€2,55 @ Carrefour, San Pablo, Sevilla, ES
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is brewed with water, malted barley, corn, sugar, and hop extract. It’s poured a crystal clear deep golden body beneath a full head of white foam that unfortunately drops a bit quicker than it should. The aroma displays a sweetish, doughy, and grainy malt with some lightly earthy and spicy notes. The taste follows and thankfully it’s not candy sweet. The earthiness and spiciness remain, and there’s a light touch of orange-like fruitiness to it but very little in the way of Belgian yeast phenols. It’s there but it’s not really clear. A moderate to median bitterness balances it along with the spiciness and earthiness and a light touch of alcohol, and it finishes dry, earthy, and spicy. In the mouth it’s medium bodied and a bit dextrinous with a fine-bubbled median carbonation that warms in the mouth to become somewhat creamy. It’s interesting as it hits all of the right buttons for a Belgian blond ale but still seems a bit limited. Over the years these beers have been softened a little bit to appeal more to European Pilsner drinkers and I have no doubt that that’s the case here coming from Carrefour. With that said, the quality for the price is a no brainer ~ 750 ml of decent beer for €2,55 is almost impossible to pass up as it makes a great accompaniment to all kinds of foods.
