Paris 1/4 2026. 50 cl can from Carrefour, Rue de Bercy, Paris. Dark blue, almost black can with a big “8” and some circular things.
Pours clear yellow with a mid-sized white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as a thin, almost transparent layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet and boozy malty odor mingling with subdued grainy sour notes. Pale malts and metallic alcohol. Sugar.
Low carbonation. Slightly thicker, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong almost sugary sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a light bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is boozy and sweet.
Sweet an boozy. Boozy and sweet.

44 cl can straight up. Brewed by Karlberg Brewery for the Carrefour grocery chain, it’s a typical cheap Belgian Blonde that doesn’t lean to malt liquor, thankfully. The heft and strength raise it above others of the same price range and style, while not being classy. Tried it. Next!
