Purchased in Winchester, coming in a 500ml brown bottle, bottle-conditioned; BB 01/2014, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass. Notes: the beer label says “Aristocratic German hops meet the finest English barley and fermented the Californian way to give a West Coast twist to this classic ale style”.
A: pours a dark straw colour with flaky yeast sediments swimming around, coming with no beer head at all and very very very faint carbonation.
S: light grainy, herbal and very mildly citric upfront, apart from that there’s an additional savoury feel to it.
T: the flavour is a mess, with some bits and bobs of watered-down mash, savoury-sweet and lightly acidic estery, while the bitterness is next to non-existence…
M&O: the mouthfeel is flat, and the flavour bland, only that the texture is not too thin or thick, just okay. All in all this is yet another very bad bottle-conditioned product from this microbrewery. I can’t really comprehend what this beer means to deliver in a glass…
