Purchased in Winchester, coming in a 500ml brown bottle, bottle-conditioned; BB 03/2014, served cool in a straight imperial pint glass.

A: reddish amber in colour, coming with just a rimmed head, almost no carbonation, and lots of chunks of yeast sediments…
S: very light caramely malts with faint prune-ish sour-sweet fruitiness, full stop.
T: flat, neutrally flavoured, mildly fruity palate with a thin malt wash and lightly herbal hop bitterness, followed by a faint licorice-like bitter-sweetness in the end. A low level of acidity is also provided by the yeastiness. Like a home brew gone wrong, and gone flat.
M&O: flat, thin-bodied, quite watery even, this light-bodied beer is like being put into the bottle straight from a not-very-fresh cask, hence the poor condition altogether… I have no doubt the beer is not intended this way and the cask-conditioned form should come fresher and better, but what is the point of bottling the beer if you don’t know how? Absolutely the worst “bottle-conditioned” beer I’ve had in years.
