This India Red Ale pours a deep amber color-even darker than our Trout Town American Amber. This beer is 7.5% ABV with a nice floral flavor of the beer starts with a burst of rich malts that carries into a smooth but apparent hop bitterness. ABV: 7.5% IBU: 62 SRM: 16

This used to be one of my favorite beers of all time. I would drive by Roscoe, NY a few times a year and buy two or three six packs of Rainbow Red Ale. I LOVED this beer. I don't know what the brewery did to make this beer a totally disgusting can (no more bottles) of swill. This is no longer a wonderful red ale, but an abomination. I bought a four pack of cans in a grocery store in New York City about six months ago and returned it after having one beer thinking that it was spoiled. Recently, I passed Roscoe and bought a four pack and realized that it wasn't bad due to aging, but just horrible to begin with. I now have to go back to the grocer and apologize. The manager was good enough to take back the remainder and fully refund me. I don't know what the brew master was thinking in turning an amazing beer into a horrible concoction. SAD!

I love the Rainbow trout on the can but Roscoe is famous for the Beaverkill which is is famous for Brown trout but I digress..
The color is a deep amber with shades of red oak and a tall, dense and clotted head of pale tan foam. Great drapes of lace on the glass.
Aromas of mild malt and some floral notes but not a lot going on in the nose. Some fain grain aromas but I expected more malt - caramel and brown bread but it ain't there. It's clean and pleasant just not much of it.
Flavor makes up for a lack of aroma. Beautiful, rich malt flavors flood the mouth - there's my brown bread and multi grain granola! Hop and dark grain flavors keep this from being sweet and create balance with the toasted oat and toffee character. Mild roasted grain and earthy hop bite duke it out with every sip.
More than a brown ale, not quite red but full of complex flavors. Nearly full bodied but highly drinkable with a firm hop finish. The 7+% is well folded in and only becomes apparent late, adding yet another dimension to this delicious ale.

More caramel-copper looking than ruby red; it looks like a shallow creek running over brown cobbles. Thee thick off-white, cream headstand and ample lacing absolutely make up for the lack of red.
Dark crystal malt aroma with a slight cocoa dusting. Prunes, apricot, and grape lend a supporting fruitiness.
Med body and somewhat resinous, but is also a bit flat.
Biscuit malt leads to a sweet and earthy blue spruce, lemon peel, and cracked pepper. A not quite roasted but toasted rye with orange marmalade; it's a good hybrid of black and O.G. IPA stylings when your palate needs a change from strait juice. A slight diacetyl build keeps it from going higher.

Pleased to write 2nd review of this odd, original red- IPA. I'm giving a 4 for originality.
A - Pours a very dark, cloudy amber and a persistent and lacing khaki head, leaving a thicker film, collar and lace. 4
S - Toasty/malty. fruit malt nose, more malt that hop, a bit of pine and a bit medicinal and sweet.
T - Sweet, rich bready malty brew, with lots caramel, almost cola like, and follows a slight drying hop finish.
F - Sticky, almost sweet. Strange.
Must try. Not wanting another, but love original woodsy brews like this.
