Pours a dark mahogany bordering black with a coffee colored head.
Smells of coffee and dark fruit and malted whole grain bread.
Taste is coffee, tart raspberry and toasted whole grain bread.

I had a taste of this lager at friend's gathering so we decided to pick up a 1/6 keg of our own for the holidays, which was an excellent decision.
Poured from keg pump tap into a straight, tall chalice: color dark brown, head presents about 1/2 inch thick and then dissipates to a thin top with light lacing.
Smell is clean, no off notes but light malt and hint of cocoa and light roastiness.
Taste is also clean with great light roast, cocoa and bitter components - just a very good schwarzbier.
Mouthfeel is crisp, fairly good carbonation.
Overall a great selection for a winter holiday beer as it is an excellent version of a black lager with clean flavor and aroma with moderate roasty and cocoa flavors.
