Pours a dark burgundy-brown with a finger of khaki foam atop. Head retention is good. Aroma is pecan, vanilla, molasses, caramel and toffee with a little boozy bourbon heat at the back. It leans sweet - heavily sweet. Malts are nutty, caramely and toasty. Flavor profile is pecans, brown sugar, molasses, caramel, vanilla bean and a little rye spice at the back. Sweetness is much more tame in the flavor profile vs. the nose. Bourbon adds a little uptick of heat right at the finish, along with a light bitter char bite. Toasty, nutty and caramel malts support throughout. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a creaminess to the texture. Overall, pecan is certainly present within this sugary barleywine example. Bourbon works to tame and reign in the sweetness, and does a quality job.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can.
