a hazy but not too hazy new england ipa, another brewery contributing to this cause, i have enjoyed a fair few of these around the country this fall, and this one is solid overall, if somewhat samey as the style goes. there is apparently a special hop blend for the als beers, not sure if this uses that or not, but i get subtle melon, orange, and kiwi fruit here from the hops, some greenness in the nose but cleaner in the flavor, fruitiness all the way through which is cool, and just a bit of bitterness, not just dry hoppy, and smooth with some fuller bodied grain carrying the hops along. i think there is nice balance to this, i dont taste a ton of malt and the beer is nice and pale, but there is a honey sweetness in it thats nice with the tropical hop character. a little pine at the end with the bitterness, a little snappiness to the finish, better carbonation than their other beers i had in here too. maybe not the most unique ipa out there, but its rather well made and drinkable for a hazy. never heard of these guys before rolling into their brewery, but enjoyed what we drank here for sure.
