I had this on tap at Barren Hill, enjoyed chilled in a glass.
The color is dark brown with translucent clarity and thin med tan head with fine bead. The smell has a lot of dark malt complexity -rich cocoa and light roasted grain gives off a sligth dark roasted coffee and woody accent with an almost bean-like smell like actual beans cooked with a hint of caramel. The feel is creamy roasty and has moderate carbonation with smooth quality and low bitterness in general with mild toasted texture and gentle alcohol with semi-sweet finish.
the Taste of Raven Baltic Porter is intense with malt which focuses on the dark and roasted with a lot of chocolate malt character but not overly roasted since there is a sufficient amount of caramel type sweetness with light bittterness from the hops which add a mild woody taste with mellow dark sugar accent toward the finish. Overall a great Porter, loved it and would recommend it to anyone who likes porter since the alcohol is subdued and it is a very well made, drinkable beer.
