This is Barren Hill Gingerbread Jesus (a Dubbel-style brew) aged in Rye Whiskey barrels. It hits all the right notes and makes me sad that Barren Hill closed so soon and so sudden.
Smells like raisins and must and sugar. The taste is all of that plus the sweetness and booziness of a barrel-aged brew. Wood and old grapes and things. A delightful concoction all around.
