On tap at brewery:
Pours a rusty; apparently not clear, but short of cloudy. Lovely 2 fingers of off-white head that lasts a long time, though it only supplies a bit of lacing.
I actually get a lot of cherry up front. Beyond that a little syrup but also a little woodiness that brings a hint of tartness to that opening cherry smell. Also a hint of vanilla - an interestingly malty smell.
Taste isn't sweet either, but is definitely malty. That cherry and woody note are more balanced, but those two flavors kinda stand out to me. If there's any hop profile, it comes across as a tad spicy, which I think works well here. Medium body, medium-light heft - flavor is pretty full but carbonation acts as ball bearings rolling the not-too-heavy beer across the palate.
Definitely more English Barleywine with the malty leaning nature. Light burn seems more carbonation based than alcohol, but at 10% it might be a sneaky trick. Definitely enjoyable.

More on the English side than American as in its more subdued but still pretty rich and thick. Alcohol is very well integrated. Maltiness and sweetness not over the top. All around well balanced.
