Very Good
Green Bench IPAGreen Bench IPA
Notes: This our “bench-mark” beer. A medium bodied ale with aromas of soft citrus and earthy pine combined with very subtle notes of tropical fruit. This highly hopped American style IPA leaves your pallet with a lingering dry and bitter finish.

First offer from this brewer and it was a good first impression...

Decent looking brew with a very juicy and sweet smell. What also is obvious about this brew is is hop-foreword flavor, a slight punch even to the taste buds. Plenty of carbonation and a strong dry finish. Overall, a solid beer.

Bought a single can from a store in Gainesville. No data on the can, so I'm assuming this beer is old, as the aroma and taste have that typical stale IPA thing going on. Very average. Would like to give this a fair shake and try again fresh on tap somewhere, but I'm from out of town, so this 1 can was best I could do.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is equal parts citrus and pine. Taste is of citrus, a good bit of malts, light pine, mild bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but a lacking a little punch.

A: The beer is clear amber yellow in color and has an ever so slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of passionfruit and grapefruit are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of passionfruit with hints of grapefruit and pine with sweet bits of candi sugar. No bitterness is detectable.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I found this beer to be unique compared to others in the style as it was neither crisp nor bitter and has a subtle amount of sweetness.

Pours a slightly hazy deep gold color with a silky 2 finger head. Lacing is spotty.

Aroma has vaguely semi-sweet citrus notes with a soapy residual nose.

Taste is a blend of citrus hops and medium bodied malt. Not a bad blend, but more on the malt side than the average northeast IPA these days.

Feel is a little soft with a moderate bitterness.

In general a solid IPA with a robust malt base under a pleasant hop profile. As standard IPAs go this is worth a shot, offering a nice hop profile to top if off.

12 oz can poured into Samuel Adams Nonic Pint glass.

Deep, bright amber color with hues of honey, with a solid finger of off-white head.

Really beautiful bright hop character with an almost candy-like aroma. Sugary passion fruit, pine, apricot, watermelon candy, and melon.

Flavor is quite different from the nose but brings a nice toffee presence with some earthy hop character, crisp pilsner malt, slight passion fruit, slight grapefruit rind.

Feel is creamy and has a nice carbonation level. Slight acidity on the palate.

Overall, pretty damn decent. Would have again.

L: Slightly hazed translucent amber with a big creamy white head. Excellent retention and sheets of lacing.

S: Honey, caramel, pink grapefruit, orange and grapefruit zest, some mango and pine.

T: Yellow grapefruit and orange zest, hints of pineapple and mango, lots of sweet malt. Caramel, honey, toffee, and toast. Some pine on the back, but only mild bitterness.

F: Light for its abv, but not watery. Well carbonated. Crisp. Sticky with oils on the finish.

O: A decent enough IPA. Unremarkable, but quite drinkable.

Light amber color. Well hopped for IPA, and enough malt to carry the hops.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 3/2/2018. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, mint, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. A bit muddy and not as vibrant on hops in the aromas. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, mint, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, mint, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance; and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 6.8%. Overall this is a very good IPA. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Feels like Chinook, Columbus, Centennial, and probably Amarillo. Classic hop profile. Very dank and earthy hops; sizable malt backbone, but not too sweet with adequate lingering resin dryness. A very enjoyable and well made offering.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of citrusy fruits - like pineapple and grapefruit. Nice toasted caramel taste with a citrusy bitter bite.

Can from Belmont Station. Canned early January.

A clear copper with a dense, off-white head with decent retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose hints at the bitterness with grapefruit and pine notes. A mild caramel note with some honey is present. The palate is a solid old school IPA with plenty of grapefruit and moderate pine flavor and bitterness. Caramel, burnt sugar and a little toffee are present as well. Mildly sweet and moderately bitter on the finish, this beer is medium in body and moderately carbonated. Solid.

Pours a hazy amber color. 2/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of floral hops, slight citrus hops, slight resin, sweet malt, hint of tea, and a hint of piney hops. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is an elevated bitterness. Tastes of sweet malt, slight tea, hint of earthiness, resin, citrus hops, slight piney hops, and a hint of floral hops. Overall, decent appearance and aroma, good blend, but lacking somewhat in body.

Bought a growler at Ace Growlers in Newnan, Georgia. A very good IPA. I found it to be good all the way through - the smell and taste were right where I wanted them to be. I'll get it again.
