Fort De Soto, the largest park within the Pinellas County Park System, consists of 1,136 acres made up of five interconnected islands. These keys are home to beach plants, mangroves, wetlands, palm hammocks, hardwoods and scores of native plants. The park is also home to more than 328 species of birds with new species being added every year. Between 1,000 A.D. and 1,500 A.D. Fort De Soto was inhabited by the Tocobaga Indians. On May 30, 1539 a well-known Spanish explorer, Hernando De Soto, landed on these shores. De Soto Low is a take on a new style that we dub, Micro IPA. Lower alcohol than both American IPAs and Session IPAs, our Micro IPA is only 2.3% ABV but is packed full of hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness. De Soto Low is brewed with generous amounts of Simcoe, Columbus, and Citra hops at 45 IBUs.

Surprisingly low carbonation, drinks a bit like a flat ginger ale. Smells and tastes of citrus type hops, though the low alcohol is extremely noticeable with every sip. The malts seem not present at all. Almost like hopped water. Not bad on a hot summer day, but not great by any means.

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at Green Bench. Served in an odd waisted tall glass - unsure of the proper nomenclature.

A: Clear and very light gold. A half-finger of white head fades fairly quickly, and low visible carbonation.

S: Cracker malts, with resin and citrus hops, and less tropical fruits and lemon.

T: Tangerines, pine, lemon, grassy and a touch of dank. Light crisp cracker malts, and finishes with more citrus and grapefruit rind bitterness.

M: Light body, and carbonation sensation a bit on the low side. As expected, essentially no alcohol presence whatsoever.

O: This was good, and an easy drinker. But nothing to get worked up over. A lawnmower beer, as people say.

I was truly impressed at the flavors coming through despite the ABV here. Nice super light IPA if you're into session brews. As good or better than many others I've had that are in the 4% range. Definitely worth a try if you're around. Green Bench is a neat place to stop, too.

This is a very low session ale. 2.3%. For that low it's pretty good. Can't compare it to bigger IPAs
