another great wild beer from green bench, still surprised these guys dont have any traction with the beer geeks. pretty deep mahogany and clear beer, tall khaki head rests on top, bubbly and lasting, really attractive. the aroma is great too, dried cherry and root beer come to mind, plenty of wood, and a nice tangy acidity probably a little more sour than average, but not so heavy on the vinegar type of sourness, very clean and citrusy. the flavor has some serious red wine elements going on, a light grapey sweetness and some wood tannins, with really pretty sharp citric acidity there at the end. the wood makes it smooth even with the sourness, but also sort of makes it thick, its got a lot of weight to it for the style. dried fruits all the way through, raisin and cranberry, soft vanilla, oak, cherry. not a ton of carbonation here, which i think is a knock against it, i like this style to be bright and bubbly, but its rather still, even though it has a big tall head on it. love the flavors here, although ten ounces or so is about enough, this is very sour and sits heavy and a little harsh in the belly. another really strong offering from green bench, i have absolutely loved their wild beers to date!

Not the same as the french oak version. Pours a very dark reddish brown color with minimal off-white head. Tartness, caramel malts, hay, citrus, and some earthiness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with tartness and some caramel malt notes.
