Our tmavè pivo is a smooth, malty, and full bodied dark lager inspired by Czech pub culture. The richness and drinkability of our Czech dark lager comes from a precise and delicate double decoction process, followed by a very cold and slow fermentation and long lager maturation.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 2/15/24.
Appearance: rich, dark brown hue with a thick, three-finger head of frothy tan foam. I think it’s beautiful!
Smell: richly malty with a dash of roast and a nice yeastiness. I like it.
Taste: quite caramelly, along with a little nutty roastiness and just a dash of biscuity malt flavor — just enough for balance, not too much. Quite good.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: super light and refreshing and drinkable, for a dark beer. Quality work!

Appearance: Very dark brown body underneath a foamy, dark tan-hued head. Sheeting-style lace.
Smell: Dark German bread, toasted nut shells and a little roast with a trailing edge of smokiness.
Taste: More of that ole Vollkornbrot with a lightly sweetish Tootsie Roll tone. Faint fruit but also a floral note. Smattering of discarded peanut shells. Dry, lightly roasty, lightly bitterish finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: So-so.

I had this on draft 2/9/23 @ the Beer Temple.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
Big tan head; frothy lace. Light roast coffee bean, fresh earth & faint citrus notes in the nose.
Creamy, yet somehow medium thin mouthfeel.
Mild acorn, light roast coffee bean & faint mint flavors.
Slight, and a bit hoppy, perhaps? Pleasant, but not among the best of this style.

Dark brown body, tan head. Smells like a nice nutty brown ale, but with a lighter, effervescence and crispness to it, a bit of caramel and pumpernickel as well. A cross between porter and brown ale, but with the body and drinkability of a lager.
