Our double IPA is brewed with a combination of three malts designed to give this beer its great color and malt character. Combining four hop additions during the brew process and a final dry hop addition using Citraâ„¢ hops gives our Double Span a hoppiness worthy of all hop lovers.

It feels like this beer lacks a certain quality in ingredients. Also very confusing on what the style is.. Double ipa, ipa, or pale? It tastes like a pale

this was listed as an ipa, not a pale when i visited the brewery this week, and it was my favorite beer i had there. deep amber color on it, i expected a lightly hopped american red type, but that just wasnt the case, and this came in well above my expectations. brimming hop nose, fresh it smells like, big pine and citrus notes, not unique in varietal, but unique in the way it comes through the bigger malt build. cascade i might imagine, or another northwest C hop or two. it has the meaty woodiness, fleshy and pulpy, rugged vibe, but just so fresh and pungent. the taste is just like the nose in the hop complexion and intensity, and the big but not too sweet caramel malt base softens the edges, although it never really gets to bitter. very west coast in the fact that it has a high resin and oil feel to it, along with nice carbonation that keeps it from getting heavy. i thought this was an excellent red ipa, one of the best i have had in the style. not sure if they package this one or not, but they would do well with it if they did.
