Dark gold, hazy beer with a thick, sudsy head (not dense - rather soapy, but lasts a fairly long time even if it does fade to a bubbly wisp along the edges). Strong green chili aroma; earthy. Strong chili flavor that builds in intensity over a smooth, fairly decent malt backbone. Slick and malty mouthfeel replete with some chili burn.
This is a fine chili beer, full of heat and flavor with emphasis on the peppers. From what little I can tell, the chili peppers come from Hatch Valley in New Mexico (ref. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Mexico_chile). Like many chili beers, the head suffers somewhat in that it doesn't present a classic, dense and lasting head, yet this particular one does at least linger despite its big bubble, soapy appearance. Ah, but the flavor is pure chili beer delight! Spicy and peppery with some nice, lingering heat with a nice, rich malt backbone. Well worth checking out for fans of chili beers with some oomph...
