it blows my mind that these guys can make beers like juicy banger and the single hopped pale series and then put out something like this. those beers are so good, show great knowledge of the hops, but this one is a mess, sloppy and heavy, not at all what i was hoping for with this name. it pours almost an amber color, certainly copper, and i already know its too malty for these hop varietals in a beer called ipa. it has a pretty white head though and nice lacing as i drink it down. i smell both citra and amarillo hops, but they seem past their prime, almost stale, like they have lost something. lower alpha already, the bitterness isnt there to balance the sweet grain. it smells better than it tastes though i think, because i get the fresh caramelized cereal thing, and the lemony aspects of the hops, unique and it works. in the taste, its muddled a lot, and the hops are lost to the malt. its sweet, its heavy, its strong, and its hard to drink the big glasses they serve it in. i had much higher hopes for this, it doesnt taste like ipa at all, and it does little or no justice at all to these delicious hop varietals. it also doesnt have enough carbonation. my first beer on site here at the brewery is a real letdown.
