Poured from the bottle into a tulip.
Appearance: hazy amber with a light tan ½-finger head. Average looking.
Aroma: sweet malt dominates the aroma. Hops are present but not at levels expected of a 3X of 2X IPA.
Flavor: as in the nose, sweet malt. This beer leans toward the maltier side of IPAs – a bit too much. I expected this beer to be a hop assault, but it was far from it. No alcohol warmth or flavor. According to the label, 5 different hops were used in this beer, but they all muddy together. No pine, tropical flavors, etc. are detectable.
Mouthfeel: medium-medium; as expected given the 11.3%.
Overall: so-so. This beer is far from the quality set forth in Juicy Banger. Station 26’s BA Dark Star and BA Barleywine were incredible, but this beer falls light years short of those. This beer is a miss. My ratings are based on the bottled version. The day I purchased this beer, I also tried it on tap and really enjoyed it. The bottled version is a lesser version. It doesn't remind me of the draft version at all; really a tale of two beers. Both were fresh, so age isn't the culprit.

On tap at the brewery this rating is for the Third Birthday Triple IPA. Orange color, almost no head. Aroma is candy and hops. Flavor is candy and melon, peaches, really quite good. It's too bad its so strong but the flavors presented are right up my alley.
